Château de Mercuès, a jewel in the crown of the Lot's heritage, combines history and architectural beauty. Built on what was once a sacred site, it has evolved under the influence of the Counts-Bishops of Cahors, adding gardens and embellishments over the centuries. Converted into a hotel in 1944, it has played host to a number of famous personalities and joined the prestigious Relais & Châteaux network in 1957.

Since 1983, the Vigouroux family has been committed to preserving this heritage, revitalising the surrounding vineyards and producing exceptional Malbecs. Today, the Château offers a unique experience combining gastronomy, wine and hospitality.

Château de Mercuès, the temple of French Malbec, is rooted in an exceptional terroir, cultivated with the utmost respect for the environment. Since 1887, the Vigouroux family, now in its fourth generation with Bertrand-Gabriel, has made a name for itself in developing this noble grape variety. By growing the grapes at high density, with 6,666 vines per hectare, they optimise the quality of the grapes, producing a Malbec that is both intense and refined.

The underground cellar, built in the Romano-Byzantine style, is the heart of this meticulous vinification, orchestrated by Bertrand-Gabriel. The Malbecs produced are distinguished by their velvety texture and powerful aroma, recalling the heritage of the bishops of yesteryear.
